Socialism.
In the 1790's Alexander Hamilton and the Federalist Party favored a strong centralized federal government and wanted the individual states to ratify the constitution, even though it meant the states had to give up some of their powers to the federal government.
Conservatives are thought to be one group that favors less government and balanced budgets.
The Constitution equally favors agriculture, commerce, and manufacturing.
The country ideology was the British political philosophy that held country gentlemen to be the best fit for leadership. This was believed in part because country gentlemen had vast wealth and could not be easily corrupted by Walpolian politics (patronage). It was assumed that the country gentlemen would make the best decision for the community or nation, as his interests were inextricably tied to his decision as well. The country gentlemen, then, was above politics for favors. The universally recognized concept of republicanism, doing what is right for the whole instead of making decisions for selfish reasons, would be natural and proper for the country gentlemen.

Radicals are on the extreme left of the political spectrum.
In the United States political system, BOTH parties favor considerable government involvement; the difference is in which areas the parties perfer more (and less) government involvement.Generally speaking, the Democratic Party favors more economic regulation and government involvement in economic (and social welfare) programs. It generally opposes government involvement in civil liberties areas (i.e. much less regulation on individual social choices). The Republic Party is (mostly) the opposite - it tends to favor lower levels of government regulation and involvement in economic activities, while advocating significantly more government regulation of individual civil (social) activities. However, both parties have shown they are heavily in favor of increased government surveliance for "national security" purposes, which generally means strengthening the government's ability to intrude into everyday life at the government's (sole) discretion.

Political Machine
Political Machines
The new professional political organizations were known as political machines. They often relied on what's known as the spoils system, where candidates promise jobs or other favors in return for support.
Bosses and political machines controlled the city governments using intimidation. Assainations happened and labor unions formed to control the local governments.
