8 presidents were born in Britain's North American colonies (AKA the 13 original colonies). George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and William Henry Harrison were all born prior to American independence and were originally British subjects by birth. They were able to be president because Article II of the Constitution established an exception that these men qualified for. Martin Van Buren is recognized as the "first" president born in the US, but this is questionable since the Revolution did not end until 1783. Arguably, John Tyler, born in 1790, was the first president born "in the US."

Chester A Arthur was born near the US/Canada border, and although nobody knows for sure, a rumor states that he was born a Canadian, without his parents being aware of it.

none. it is a requirement by the constitution that all presidents are born in the usa

WRONG - The constitution requires the President to be a natural-born citizen. He can be born elsewhere as long as one of his parents is a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth. He DOES NOT have to be born inside the U.S.

WRONG AGAIN- Martin Van Buren. the 8th president of the united states.
