Some of the states that wanted to become independent of Great Britain include Kenya, India and Uganda. Countries like Kenya had guerilla units performing acts of sabotage and murder as a sign of struggle when the negotiation was not working.

In respect to both its Dominions (for example, Canada) and its colonies (for example, Egypt), Great Britain faced many challenges and outright rebellions on behalf of independence after World War I. India, to take just one example, was the scene of numerous protests, even armed uprisings, once the war ended. Perhaps most famously here, the political-spiritual leader Gandhi courageously stood up to the British Empire on behalf of regaining its national integrity and independence.
