Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar was a spanish nobleman who lived in the 11th century. He was a General in the service of the King of Castile (north central Spain) in their wars agains the Moors. He was called El Cid Campeador (The Lord Master of Military Arts) due to his ongoing success in war, both as a warrior and as a general.
