Franklin Delano Roosevelt was President of the United States for nearly the entire time Hitler was Chancellor of Germany. Hitler took office at the end of January 1933. At that time Herbert Hoover was formally still President, though Roosevelt had already been elected for the upcoming term and was sworn in in March. Roosevelt died on April 12 1945, so the president during the last few days of Hitler's rule (Hitler died on April 30 1945) was Harry S Truman.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was President from 1933 until his death in 1945, then it was Harry S. Truman from 1945 to 1953. Hitler's reign fell in between the years of 1933 to 1945. FDR had died just 18 days before Hitler did.
