John Tyler (born March 29, 1790 in Charles City County, Virginia; died January 18, 1862 in Richmond, Virginia) succeeded William Henry Harrison as the tenth President of the United States, serving between April 4, 1841 and March 4, 1845, including the whole of the year 1844. Tyler had no Vice President as he was elected as Harrison's Vice President. Tyler ascended to the presidency following Harrison's death in office.
