Ronald Wilson Reagan (1911-2004) was 69 years old when elected US President in 1980, and turned 70 less than a month after assuming office in 1981. He served two full terms, leaving office shortly before his 78th birthday. He was the oldest person elected to the Presidency in US history and the oldest to serve.

The oldest ex-president at death was Gerald Ford (1913-2006) who lived 93 years, 165 days which is 45 days longer than Ronald Reagan.
