The War Hawks, or Hawks, were those who favored war. They were led mainly by Henry Clay and John C. Calhoun and were a pushing force behind the War of 1812.

There were two leaders .. Henry Clay and John Calhoun. Both were Jeffersonian republicans and later helped form the Whig party.
Notable leaders of the War Hawks included Speaker of the House Henry Clay and John C. Calhoun. The War Hawks were a group of Congressmen who wanted to declare war in the time period leading up to the War of 1812.
