Because there it was an article in some old newspaper between 1800 and 1900 that say "hey boy do you wanna get your own land for free, find gold and treasures, if you do then move west boy, move WEST". After that, many people moved west but some of them were not so lucky or proficient to do it, so they died or they just didn't get there until they created a special method to move to the west (not sure! something like that though).....
it depends on the time period but the biggest one has to be the California gold rush. it happened around 1849 (ergo the 49ers) people discovered gold and started moving out west but very few actually made it big. maybe as little as 1%.
One of the reasons is because of the California Gold Rush. Another reason is to get free land.
By moving from the densely populated East to the sparsely populated West, people could obtain land much more easily. Homesteading got you free land in abundance.
because the land was fertile and gold was very popular in that area people started moving west.
because the California Gold Rush in the 1800s which brought immigrants and people all over the country
The northwest ordanince was a bill passed by congress saying the poeople of America can settle in the Ohio River Valley area. This was like the start of westward expansion
They wanted people to move west and settle.
Homestead act, which was signed by lincoln, was made to encourage people to move west. Government would give people who were willing to move out in the west land, in exchange for a small fee and a requirement of living on that land for five years before it officially became theirs
What happened was the men wanted to get to the gold rush areas so they went. The main colonies in Sydney and Melbourne were becoming smaller in population and that's not what the government wanted.
The colonists opposed the Proclamation of 1763 because it prevented them from settling in the west when most of them already settled in the west. So this mad them mad because that had to move back in to the 13 colonies. That is why the colonists opposed the proclamation of 1763.
