They don't want to show you the truth because then they'd have a bad image of themselves, and they want us to think they are amazing, perfect, and always right. They also lie to us to "keep us safe".

yes

We have our own share of the guilt, though; we do not make good government easy. We demand change and that the government do the things that need doing. Then we protest and vote against the ones who dare try. If you doubt the truth of this (this is being written in mid March 2011) check the News for the phrase "collective bargaining". An attempt is being made to get rid of union featherbedding, at least a little. And the people are out in droves protesting the people who are trying to save the state's economy, as if featherbedding (and forcing people to join unions, or pay just as much as if they were in) were a civil right. One thing that they lie about is Food & Health.

So that we keep on voting for them. the opposition also lies, this brings about a situation where it doesn't matter who you vote for. ---- Governments (at least in the US) must maintain the appearance that they work for the people. One of the ways that a government can do what they wish (as opposed to doing what is right) is to manipulate what the people believe. By providing misleading information, or even outright lies, the government can lead the population to support the most outrageous acts.

Many people believe that the US administration deliberately provided false information after the 9/11/01 to get the people to support US attacks in Iraq.

Additionally, the memory of the people is short. Whatever a politician does to make us mad can be easily wiped from our memory by good press just before the election.

Because the government doesn't trust you. And it wants to stay in power, so it will not willingly share information with it's "subjects". In the U.S., the Federal Government was originally designed to regulate interstate commerce and protects us from foreign invaders - That's all... Anything else is "too much governement". That's why State's rights were mentioned so much in the Constitution. But as the Federal Gov't slowly grew over time, it created a need for money to sustain itself. The first taxes were only "temporary", but then the extra Federal Gov't it created needed more and more money. The Federal Gov't then became an end in itself. To tell us the truth about that and other things they do "for our own good" would bring their very existence into question...

the government is hiding a lot of things from us. one of them are extraterrestrial proof. now, the reason that they are hiding that from us is because they don't want to scare the public. they know that if they told us the real hidden truth about extraterrestrials, a lot of people are going to panic, there for they have to keep that as one of many secrets that they have.

Politicians tell lies because politics is an art of deception and diplomacy. They are skillful orators and know the weakness of the gullible people who have in political history displayed a foolish credulous temperament to be always subservient to authority, be it a monarchy or a democratic government. They tell lies because people are willing to listen to them.

The best answer I can give to this is that the government feels we will feel safer or be better off without the knowledge of certain things. But we do have the right to know the truth...so I would actually like the government to answer this question....

Is that answer from a member of the government good god.

The government lies on many levels about many things however primarily it is to put fear into people for profit.

This serves the purpose of keeping people divided and easier to control.

The government do this as it is ultimately controlled by big profit making industries.

It is much easier to send troops of to foreign lands to gain control of resources that the hungry capitalists need to feed their never ending appetite for profit by lying and creating a fear of terror.

It is said that they would tell us when the time comes and 2012 will be the answer.
