Several events occurred in 1763 that are important to the history of the United States. First, the French and Indian war is ended, giving Canada to the British. Also, the Mason Dixon line is surveyed. Finally, King George III declares all land north and west of the Allegheny Mountains closed to white settlement.

1776 was the year in which the Declaration of Independence was signed by the founding fathers of our country.. This marked the beginning of an eight year conflict between the newly born United States of America, and the British Empire (France eventually joined in, much to the relief of the Americans). This year is important because it was the start of the United States' independence.
