The official religion of the Qing dynasty's rulers was Confucianism, whom Puyi was the last emperor of. After the Japanese had occupied Manchukuo in 1941, Puyi was appointed by the Japanese as emperor of Manchukuo and was forced to convert to Shinto, the state religion of Japan.

The Chinese Qing Dynasty ended on February 12, 1911 when Emperor Xuantong, otherwise known as Puyi, stepped down from the throne.

Emperor XuanTong's name is Puyi. Puyi was enthroned at the age of three in 1908 by West Empress Dowager, Cixi, who was the actual ruler of China at that time. XuanTong was the reign name. He was forced to give up the throne by Yuan Shikai, a general and careerist, after Xinhai Revolution launched by Sun Yat-sen in 1911. So you know, it was too early for him to choose a crown prince and a 5 or 6-year-old emperor couldn't have any princes or princesses. He was remitted after the establishment of People's Republic of China in 1949 and even became a committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of PRC and met with Mao Zedong. He died of cancer in 1967.
Well the Second Sino-Japanese war started July 7 1937 and ended September 9th 1945. It was the Japanese who invaded Manchuria and quickly spread to other parts of China. The last emperor of China, Puyi, was placed on the throne as a puppet emperor. During the invasion of Nanjing (Nanking) approximately 300,000 Chinese were massacred (sometimes called "The Rape of Nanking").
