Well, just thinking out loud here, but it may have been referred to as a "social experiment", because they had never had the different people and the races mixing together to form something huge (the 13 colonies). It was an experiment, so that's why we were referred to as the "social experiment". i just think that is the answer i may be wrong. if i am please correct this. thank you.

Your answer is a good one, but might need to go a step or two further. First it is hard to separate a 'social experiment' and a 'political experiment' They have much overlap.

A monarch would lead a European country politically, and also lead is in many social ways. What was being 'cobbled' together in America had never been tried or attempted.

Keep in mind that this 'experiment' was so new they had to write a book ( not easy at that time) with all of the rules and regulations of what the new government should and could do. Also remember that if a 'mistake' was made it would not be noticed until they tried to put it into action. The Constitution was a great framework, but they had to get into the trenches and say how it would be applied and how it would work.

You are correct about the different types of people coming together. These people not only had different political backgrounds, but also different cultural backgrounds. Many did not even speak the same language--sound familiar ?
