It is likely there would have been courtyards with water features and colonnaded walkways.

The windows would have been set high up in the walls and the royal apartments set apart from the official quarters giving the pharaoh and his family some semblance of privacy.

They would have had their own private chapel in which to make ritual invocations and prayers for the pharaohs life, health and protection of the gods and goddesses.

The kitchens, stables and other domiciliary quarters would have been set well apart from the private apartments of the Pharaoh's wives and children.

Furnishings would have been sparse by our terms but made of the highest quality woods and finest linens available.

The palaces had their own bakeries and butcheries and most likely their own winery and brewery.

He lived in a palace it was no doubt luxurious but like all houses in ancient Egypt made from mud bricks. Stone was reserved for the "houses of the gods" : the temples
