When punishments for crimes were carries often the whole family of guilty party suffered:e.g. when individuals were sentenced to exile, their children were automatically out-lawed with them. If a family member deserted the Military service, or did not meet the labour demands of the state the entire family might be imprisoned. Only crimes committed against the Pharoah or tombs of the Pharoah's exacted the death penalty.
