rhea wrapped a bunch of rocks in a cloth and gave it to Cronus who swallowed it. Gaia, Cronus' mother had foretold that one of his children would overthrow him, to prevent that from happening, he swallowed all his children.

In order to save her youngest child, Zeus, from the fate of her other children (being swallowed by Cronus), Rhea, with help from Gaia, hid Zeus in a cave after she gave birth to him and presented to Cronus a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes (basically, it was a rock dressed as an infant would be). Cronus, believing it to be Zeus, promptly swallowed the rock.

Rhea managed to save one son, Zeus. She hid him in Crete and gave Cronus a stone wrapped in the clothes of the infant, which he swallowed, believing that he had killed all of his children.

She hid him in a cave and wrapped a rock in baby clothes. She gave the rock to Cronus and he ate it and didn't know Zeus was still alive.
