Nefertiti at age 15 married Akhenaten, they both ruled during the 18th dyansty, or the New Kingdom, Akhenaten later then died, and Nefertiti did not want to rule much longer, so she steped down. How long she ruled is not clearly known but some people assume about 17-18 years, because akhenaten ruled 17.

∙ 12y agoShe didn't. She was only a queen in the sense that she was married to pharaoh Rameses II, but he also had other queens (perhaps 8 or more, who also didn't rule) - she was simply his favourite wife.

It is supposed that she is the elusive pharoah 'Smenkhare' as she added this to her full name (Neferneferuaten Nefertiti Smenkhare) shortly before the death of her husband Akhenaten.
