Celtic roundhouses were often farmsteads. depending on the region e.g uk/Ireland the roundhouse would have been used for family and livestock. in winter this provided extra heat overnight and security, even livestock were used to warn of outside danger / threats, communal structures but with each level of importance stature from grandmother ( often the alpha ) to the pig/chicken.
In Europe the normal human family was 4 first generation 2 second 3/5 misc. under 1 roundhouse, + animals, which were usually within a 3 to 4 group hamlet, for protection and help in crop making and animal care, ...safety in numbers ....sometimes semi nomads in times of drought or other......
