It's debatable when the Egyptian Empire actually ended. It had been in decline for a long time before the end came.

It is acceptable to use the death of the last Pharaoh as the end point of ancient Egypt. The last Egyptian Pharaoh was Cleopatra and she reigned from 51-30 B.C. With Cleopatra's death came the end of the Egyptian Pharaohs. By the time Cleopatra came to power, there wasn't much of an Empire left. It was an imperial province of the Roman Empire.

So about 2000 years since the end of the Ancient Egyptian Empire.
