The Very first form of banking appeared in the Christian Countries during the time of the Templars. They made a system where one can put money into a bank, receive a paperwork indicating amount of date of issue as well as the owner( a check) and after a long travel, they can check out their money in other Templar funded banks.

So in conclusion, it appeared that banking worked almost the same way as it did now a day.
