Medea was not a Goddess. Apollo the sun god was one of her ancestors, making her only partly divine. Medea was however a priestess of the Goddess Hecate (the goddess of magic and witch craft).

Medea was famous for assisting Jason in his quest for the Golden Fleece. She is also known as an enchantress who turned against her own people for the love of Jason. In the play by Euripides, she murders her own sons in order to take revenge on the adulterous Jason.
