No. On the off chance they were alive at the start of the mummification process, they certainly wouldn't have been at the end, since the lungs, liver, stomach and intestines were removed from the body and placed in separate "canopic jars". (This practice stopped later, because it was no longer necessary due to improvements in the embalming process. However, this process would have killed anyone subjected to it as well.)
i have researched this particualr question and haven't found any evidence that this has ever happened. the penalty for sacralidge (specificly robbing a tomb) in ancient Egypt was impalement.
It is impossible to say how many mummys were found in Egypt. During the Victorian era especially they were illegally traded and many were destroyed.
no no no i dont even think about because its,,,... more of a waste of money for the kings
Egyptians did not bury people alive, they berried their mummies.
The egyptions stopped making mummies because first a fall they believed that if they will wrap the dead body with the white cloth and keep some belongings of that dead body like clothes ,cups in which they drink something so in a day or two that dead person will be alive but when scientists and acheologists reserched on that particular thing they found that the dead body eaten by the insects and then they told this thing to the people of egypt so they stopped making mummies.
the Egyptian mummies were pharaohs aka kings. all of them were also males. ------------------------ LOL we in the world do you get your answers?? I've seen them all over and they are a bunch of b*LL. Egyptian mummies are Egyptian mummies. Not only pharoahs are mummified but even common people...and YES even FEMALES. Do think the egyptians would secure only the pharoah's passage to the after-life by mummifying his body?? of course almost everyone were mummified. It was in their culture to mummify the dead NOT male pharoahs (in case you did not know.. they were SOME FEMALE PHAROAHS as well)
Mummies Didn't Get Mummified The Humans That Died Got Mummified.
no one. the mummies are dead.
they became mummies when they had a baby!
Some pharaohs had pets that they requested to have mummified
They had to be mummified before they could be sent to the afterlife
when a egyptian king or queen died they were made into mummies after this they were put into a sarcopogas and then put into a pyramid with all of their belongings and jewels
Even ordinary citizens are mummified... also, mummies cannot be only applied to egyptians. Bog mummies are the best preserved mummies out there--even better than Egyptian mummies because with bogs, we can easily recreate how the person looks like or even what the person last ate before he/she died. It's pretty cool! check it out!
the mummies were important because it let the egyptians believe that whom they mummified (often Pharoahs or other rulers) would be going to the after life
No.
you would probebly weigh about twice your weight because if the mummies from Egypt got mummified then yes they would be about half of your weight. :-]
No gods or goddesses were mummified, usually only pharaohs and nobles (whose remains have survived).
When a person or animal dies, bacteria on the body causes it to decompose, eventually leaving just the skeleton behind. But sometimes, if the conditions are just right, a body will be mummified instead. A mummy is any dead body where the fleshy parts have been somehow preserved.Ancient mummies do not decay because they have been preserved. The blackened corpses were mistakenly credited to the use of bitumen in the embalming process. Not all mummies come from Egypt and are wrapped. In fact, mummies come from all over the world and have been found on every continent.
