Cleopatra (Cleopatra VII) of Egypt had three sons: one fathered by Julius Caesar, namely
* Ptolemy XV (Caesarion), and two sons fathered by Mark Anthony, who were called * Alexander Helios and * Ptolemy Philadelphus. After Cleopatra's death Ptolemy XVwas proclaimed pharaoh by the Egyptians. However, the Roman, Octavian, who later became Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus (also known as Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus) had already been declared pharaoh. So Ptolemy XV was killed on the orders of Octavian. ("Two Caesars are one too many", was, apparently, Octavian's argument behind this move!) Octavian spared her other three children fathered by Mark Anthony, i.e. one daughter (Cleopatra Selene II) and the two sons Alexander Helios and Ptolemy Philadelphus, assigning them to the care of Mark Anthony's fourth wife, Octavian Minor.
