What important events happened in Georgia?

Georgia has a long history that dates back well before they became a state in 1788. Some important things that happened in Georgia would include; the burning of Atlanta, the invention of the cotton gin, and Sherman's march. There are many other things that have happened in Georgia these are just a few I felt were important.

Something that was very important about Georgia is it's founder. James Oglethorpe founded Georgia so that people who went to jail for owing money could clear their name.
