That is the Latin Vulgate, compiled by St. Jerome for the Catholic Church in the 4th century. Many traditional Catholics regard this version the best one extant to this day. Of course, it is in Latin. There is an English transliteration of the Vulgate called the Real Douay-Rheims Bible, recently available (as opposed to an earlier "Douay-Rheims" translation which is more popularly known.) It has an interesting history and was transliterated from the Latin by a linguistics expert. It is not well-known, however, and may be hard to find. Not as hard as learning Latin, though! The oldest surviving text of the Christian bible with the pre-Christian text commonly the Old Testament is the Greek Codex Sinaiticus least 1,600 years old but because it forms a vital link in our catalog of Bible manuscripts. It was the complete bible, but now a few pages are missing. other text are older but not accompany with other text e.g., John Rylands Library there is a papyrus fragment, P32, is from the third century, the oldes known christian bible text is the Papyrus Rylands 457 (P52), containing John 18:31-33, 37, 38, and preserved at the John Rylands Library, Manchester, England. As to its bearing on the tradition of John's writership at the end of the first century, the late Sir Frederic Kenyon said in his book The Bible and Modern Scholarship, 1949, page 21: "Small therefore as it is, it suffices to prove that a manuscript of this Gospel was circulating, presumably in provincial Egypt where it was found, about the period A.D. 130-150.

The oldest scripture that exist is truly the Pentateuch or the first five books of the Torah and Old Testament of the Christian bible. Even though scholars say that the Vedas is the oldest scripture, it is a lie because it was not written until after 300 BC. The Pentateuch on the other hand was written 1450 BC.

It is presumed that the books of the Old Testament are written in chronological order. The Books of Moses (also called the Books of Law) are the oldest of them. In order, they are: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

Actually the oldest book in the bible is the book of Job. It predates the Book of Genesis by about 200 years. Genesis was (supposedly) compiled by Moses, collecting together a series of older stories.

Oldest organized religion with at least some literary and architectural basis is Hinduism according to all available historical data. Its beginning goes back to about 8ooo years on the basis of discovery of Dwaraka, traces of Ramayana in Ceylon, then Mohenjodaro and Harappa civilizations on the banks of rivers Sindu and Gangetic valleys. Historical data also suggest that Egyptian/Sumerian also began around the same time. However, accordiing to historians Rigveda, the sacred books of Hindus was written about 10,000 years ago. According to Bible, genetically the first man, Adam lived about 5500 years ago, that is about the time Krishna was born in India. History however is in constant flux, so it is hard to make a statement of fact. As s student of history and digging a number of sources, this is my opinion, subject of course to revision as nes archeological or literary proof becomes available.

It depends on what you are meaning. If you are asking what is the oldest translation of any part of the Bible which we still have, then the answer is the greek translation of the Old Testament called the Septuagint. It is the version that many of the New Testament writers quote from in their writings rather than referring to Hebrew wordings.

If you are asking what is the oldest English translation, the Geneva Bible in 1560. That is 51 years prior to the King James translation. After the Geneva Bible the Bishops Bible was published in 1568. Bith of which were much more popular traslations until the late 1800's when the King James finally gained more footing.

The are more ancient non-English translations of the Entire Bible, old and new tastaments, but ehithout know what you are looking for that is a very complicated question, so I will leave it until further clification. Hope this helps.

The Rigveda of Hinduism is proposed to have been composed between 1700-1100 BCE making it possibly the world's oldest religious text and is still in use (approx. 3,500 years old).
