The power of love is the motherly love that Demeter had for her daughter, Persephone and the love that Uncle Hades, King of the Underworld had for Persephone, because he wanted her as his queen.

The power of death also known as the fear of death means that all humans are afraid of dying and will do anything to keep living.

Zeus, who is a god and immortal, faced the power of death because he feared that humans would die from hunger.

He feared that his sister Demeter, the goddess of harvest, without her daughter would continue to be sad then nothing would grow and the humans would die.

The power of love over the power of death happens when both Demeter and Hades have Persephone for a period of time (season) during the year
