power was to control time...

Actually chronus's power was to control time, note the 'h'. Cronus (sometimes spelled Kronos) was the father of Zeus (and most of the other Olympians). He was the leader of the titans, after he overthrew his father Uranus, the ruler of the universe... that is, until he was over thrown by his son, the Olympian, Zeus of course.
