Farming was developed when there was a realization in human beings (early mans or our ancestors)to have a sustainable supply of food from any source apart from food gathering which proved to be non-sustainable after practicing it for some period of time.
Farming has been around since time began.

If you're a Christian, than farming began with Cain and Able.

If you are not a Christian, the popular belief is that there was "an Age of Agriculture" during the Neolithic Era, sometimes called the New Stone age. This was around 7000 b.c.
