Politically:the division of Rome into the eastern and western halves.

continuities:The roman laws.In today's society we based our laws on the roman law system even though its not exactly the same we get our ideas from the romans law system.The Roman laws were based on the Greeks founding of democracy.Few of rome's continuities are Greo-Roman related.
