There is no Muse. The 9 Muses were the daughters of Zeus and the goddess of memory, Mnemosyne. They were the goddesses of knowledge, poetry etc. From them we get the word Muse-um, museum Clio

In Greek mythology Euterpe was the muse of music and lyric poetry. Other muses of poetry included Calliope the muse of epic poetry and Erato the muse of love poetry.
