What the myth of Pandora's box all about?

According to the myth, Pandora opened a jar, in modern accounts sometimes mistranslated as "Pandora's box", releasing all the evils of mankind leaving only Hope inside once she had closed it again. She opened the jar out of simple curiosity and not as a malicious act.

How can the myth Pandora's box relate to modern day life?

The story of Pandora parallels the story of Adam and Eve. Pandora, the first woman, was given a box (or a jar) with specific instructions not to open it. Eve was given specific instructions not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The consequences of that sin against our human nature were so dire that one must atone for that original act of curiosity and betrayal by a self sacrifice of ones flesh, which is believed to be at enmity against God. (Romans 8)It also seems to explain the natural spiritual high we get from diet and exercise as well as the extreme rush of adrenalin we get from skydiving and the such. "Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my sake will save it." - GodSo basically it appears that giving into our body's natural curiosity of evil is a betrayal of our spirit and a modern day opening of "Pandora's Box."
