The Olympians are a group of 12 gods who ruled after the overthow of the Titans. All the Olympians are related in some way. They are named after their dwelling place Mount Olympus. They were: Zeus- Poseidon- Hades- Hestia- Hera- Ares- Athena- Apollo- Aphrodite- Hermes- Artemis- Hephaestus. ^ Dionysius is also an olympian god.

Haphaestus is lame either because he was born that way or because his mother, Hera, was so appalled by his grotesqueness when she gave birth to him that she threw him from Mount Olympus and he fell 9 days to earth.
My answer would have to be that he stood surety for Ares when Haphaestus was about to crack his head open for sleeping with his wife. All the other Olympian gods showed themselves kind of candy-assed when it came to taking some risk to help one of their fellows. Ares, of course, wasn't anybody's idea of a mensch, but he was Poseidon's nephew, and family is important.
Hephaestus was the Greek god of fire and volcanoes. He was a master craftsman, he made weapons for the gods. He used volcanoes to help him forge these weapons, hence volcanoes are named after his Roman name, Vulcan. His wife was Aphrodite (goddess of love). However beautiful his wife may have been, Hephaestus is said to be no sight for sore eyes. People say he's pretty ugly.
They were married but none of their children were a product of this union. This is believed to be the reason of Hera's wrath toward Zues' extramarital affairs; they almost always ended with Zues impregnating his women, yet she couldn't have his baby. She got herself pregnant with Haphaestus but as a result of only being a creation of one, he is deformed and walks with a limp. The answer is, its a trick question, the couple had no children together
