Simeon Stylites lived from 390 to 2 September 459, and was a Christian ascetic saint that lived for 37 years on a small platform on top of a pillar in Syria.
While on the platform, he tied himself with ropes so he wouldn't fall. Overtime, his skin grew over the ropes and maggots gathered. The maggots were considered "holy." He was a devoted monk.

Ximena is the Spanish feminine form of the Hebrew Simeon.
Either Catalan (a language spoken in Spain), or Hungarian. See the Related Link. It might come from Simeon the Righteous.
"Simon" is from the Greek word for "snub-nosed". However, among hellenised Jews in Biblical times, it probably stood for the old Hebrew name "Simeon". This name means "He hears".
