Another time, another moral code. Nakedness wasn't as "special" as it is today.
Greek Olympians were naked so that spectators could admire their bodies. Ancient Greeks were famous for their love of beauty.
Artemis wasn't naked. She was the maiden goddess and once got a mortal ripped to shreds for seeing her naked.
no they wore tunics
Back in Greece those day Greeks competed naked because the people thought that the naked body of athletes was a thing of beauty. because of their naked body they were as noble as their philosophers.
The athletes usually competed naked, not only as the weather was appropriate but also as the festival was meant to celebrate, in part, the achievements of the human body. Olive oil was occasionally used by the competitors, not only to keep skin smooth but also to provide an appealing look for the participants. Competitors may have worn a kynodesme to restrain the penis.
Nothing. They competed nude.
because the Greeks believed in the beauty of the human body did you know that origianlly in the Olympics only men could compete and only men could watch because the competitors were all nude.
Praxiteles' Aphrodite of Knidos was a sensation because it was the first statue of a nude female deity in ancient Greece. Its realistic depiction of the goddess Aphrodite, with delicate features and soft, sensuous curves, broke away from the traditional idealized portrayals of gods and goddesses, making it highly provocative and controversial. The statue's innovative composition, skillful craftsmanship, and ability to evoke a sense of intimacy with the viewer further contributed to its allure.
The ancient Greeks were the founders of the Olympic games. The games were originally sacred games honoring Zeus. They were also played in the nude. These games are most famous for the discus toss and foot races. You could only be a Greek to enter and women weren't allowed to participate.
There was running, discus, javelin, races with armour on, triple jump, double jump, wrestling, boxing, chariot racing and fighting.
men were expected to compete in the nude, so women were't allowed to watch.
Greek boys learned to play sports while in the nude. It was thought that these sports helped them to bond with their teacher or mentor. Back then in Greek times, there were no schools nor classrooms, and so each kid had their own mentor.
Mom strips boys nude at home to watch whethe penis growing properly or not
Men were actually the first to compete in gymnastics in the ancient Greek Olympics. Women were not only prohibited from competing but also prohibited from viewing the sport because the men performed nude.

Modern Olympics allow females to compete, they are not nude, and every country is allowed to compete. There is most likely more info, but this is all I know :) Glad to help!

clothingI TOLD YOU :lNakedness.
Women were not only not allowed to compete but also were not allowed to watch the games as the competotors were nude.
Actually... The athletes had to preform in the nude to make sure that they were acctally men (women couldn't compete, nor could they watch) But... once, there was a woman who had a son participating, so she dressed up as a trainer. Once her son had won, she was sooo exited, that she jumped over the fence, but the outfit caught on it... all was revealed, so then everyonehad to be nude (not the audience though.)
