The Classical Greeks honored their Gods with prayer, sacrifice, religious festivals, building sacred spaces (temples) as well as piety and good works in daily life.

Actually most religions use all or most of these things to honor their Gods.....

For more information on how the Greek Gods are STILL worshipped in the modern day (and yes there are modern worshippers of the Hellenic pantheon) you can check the websites below.....

The Greeks honored their gods to seek favors from them. They also wanted to stay on their gods' good side so that misfortune and/or punishment would not befall them.

The Greeks did not exactly like the gods, they just thought that it was necessary to pray to them for rain, food, calm seas, etc.
