Cyrus the Great was a king of Persia. Under his rule (559 BCE - 530 BCE), Persia tremendously expanded its borders and conquered much of Southwest Asia. At the time of his reign, this was the largest empire the world had ever seen. To this day it is the fourteenth largest empire the world has ever seen.
