The ancient Greek thinker and writer Herodotus is considered to be the father (or, founder) of history because of the nature of what he wrote. His long and serious serit of books known as the "Histories" was written in such a way (comprehensively, systematically, with various perspectives explicitly identified and given voice) as to stand apart from all previous works and to establish a pattern for all further "historical" works to come.
