It gave them something to write on that was thin, yet durable, that could be rolled. Also it could be carried easily, compared to the clay tablets they used to write on, It was over 100 times the weight so it is very light.

No offense or anything but I don't think they invented it. I'm preety sure it's a fruit. but I was reading something and it there was something called Papyrus paper that they invented is that what you mean??

Because the Ancient Egyptians didn't have paper back then. They used the Papyrus plant and created a paper of their own, and also made arts of the Lotus flower and Tutankhamun's Tomb.

Papyrus helped the Egyptians with their resources because, since it was lighter, it was easier to store then stone tablets. It also catalogued better, although it didn't have much durability.
