What was Albrecht Dürer known for?

Durer, also known as the Leonardo of the North, due to his branching off into different fields of study such as Leonardo da Vinci did, was a noted painter, print-maker and theorist. He lived in Nuremberg, Germany and brought the ideas of Renaissance art to Germany from his repeated visits to Italy. These ideas included mathematical perspectives and idealized proportions. However, he was much better known for his prints than his paintings, since most of his paintings were kept private.

How can you tell the difference between a lithograph and print?

A lithograph is a print too, produced from the lithography process and a metal plate. It is the only process to produce prints, so there are no non-lithograph prints to compare lithographs with. Some prints were made from engraved templates centuries ago, and this method is still used for stamps, but nor for prints anymore.
