Barbara Hepworth was just a school girl in WW1 when she was inspired by her school tutor with Egyptian slides which made her want to become a sculptor, or as she put it 'fired me off'.

Not only did fellow painters and sculptors inspire her, such as Ben Nicholson and Naum Gabo, but composers as well, such as her close friend Priaulx Rainier.
