Born in Switzerland, Klee moved to Munich, Germany, where he was educated, married and worked. He then moved to Dusseldorf to teach. In 1933 he moved back to Switzerland. Contracting a crippling disease that would eventually take his life, Klee died in Muralto, Switzerland in 1940.
