Kostis Velonis is an artist that makes sculptures, installations and architectural environments. For the artist "radicalism" in sculpture is understood as an individual production of meaning, an alternative to the "social sculpture" concept. The ironic asceticism of its constructions conveys a visual form based on weakness via the bohemian, the emigrant, the Lonesome Cowboy, the Don Quixote, the looser and the disappointed. Through the language of modernity (avant garde sculpture in 20s and 30s ) Velonis offers imaginary plots, making room for individual sensibilities, visions and failures, myths and realities. Recent exhibitions include the "Craft Boy" exhibition in Monitor gallery, Rome, "The History of a Decade that Has not Been Yet Named" at the 9e Biennale de Lyon, "In Present Tense", National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, "Kolnshow2" at the BQ gallery, Cologne, Don Quijote", Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam, Galerie Kamm, "Blind Date", «Give(a)way", EV+A Biennial, Limerick, Ireland "Poetry in the backyard", Art-Concept Gallery, Paris.
