Well, honey, Hundertwasser and Herta Leitner divorced because their marriage hit rock bottom faster than a lead balloon. Rumor has it their relationship was as stable as a one-legged table. Sometimes love just fizzles out like a wet firecracker, and that's the tea.

Oh, dude, like, they got divorced because, you know, they just weren't feeling the love anymore. It happens, man. Sometimes relationships go kaput, and you're left wondering where it all went wrong. But hey, life moves on, right?
Well, divorces happen for many reasons, and it's important to remember that it's a private matter between two people. Sometimes relationships change and people grow in different directions, and that's okay. What's important is that they both find happiness and peace in their lives, just like we find peace when we paint happy little trees.
Harry Rand is asking Hundertwasser the same question for his book "Hundertwasser". Hundertwasser argues that he did not feel comfortable with the marriage even before the wedding had taken place. ;-) When he was 25 years old he got to know a 16 year old austrian-italian girl named Herta Leitner. Even though he liked the girl he was not very happy when she begged him to marry her. He said: Ok when we reach Gibraltar we'll marry, and then tried to delay their journey. Finally they reached Gibraltar and the girl blackmailed Hundertwasser by threatening him with committing suicide in case he wouldn't become her husband. Hundertwasser was not willing to take that risk and so they became a couple. The joint time, however, must have been a Horror trip due to Hundertwasser, as Herta was deeply influenced by her Nazi-parents. So she came up with lots of stupid prejudices against jews (as Hundertwasser was one) for example she bought onions instead of fruits as a snack, because she heard that jews always eat onions as a snack. It is not very suprising that Hundertwasser wanted to unwind the relation as soon as possible. For the sake of truth it is fair to say that this is only Hundertwassers point of view, maybe she wasn't as impossible as he states.
