its a simple question that, with enough knowledge of rome, is obvious, but to answer your question rome was a Democracy, actually a republic/ democracy, who ellected there officials. take the ellectoral colleges today for example. when the first king of rome, Romulus, died, the 100 senitors (Chosen by Romulus) would have trouble finding a new one so they gave the power of choice to the people, but in exchange for giving them the power, they would decided if there choice was wise and they would really decied who was to be king if the people had, acording to the senate, chosen a bad polotician or someone the senate thought was not fit to be the king of rome. this continues throught the empire, even after the age of the republic when the emporers take charge, the senate remained, simply because they thought that one man with all the power could not govern a vast empire such as the Roman Empire. even tho an emperor exsisted amongst them elections still took place. the people ellected senators, goveners, and etc. they also had three branches of government the LEGISTRATIVE, JUDICIAL, and EXECUTIVE. so these are just few examples.
i hope this help ;)

The Romans were most gifted in the following areas
As an empire surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, Rome was vulnerable to attack or infiltration by land, notably along its long European frontier. The Empire's great east-west extent also limited rapid movement of forces between its provinces.
The Romans did not inherit their culture, religion and way of life from anyone. They had their culture, religion and way of life right from the start. In the early days there was an influence by their Sabine and Etruscan neighbours. Greek influence was also present form the early days and increased from the 3rd century B.C. when Rome took over Tarentum, the biggest Greek city in mainland Italy.

Much of the Etruscan culture was infused in early Rome, from their war-like tendencies, their expansionism and their art. You could loosely compare the Etruscan influence on Rome to the British influence on the United States.Much of the Etruscan culture was infused in early Rome, from their war-like tendencies, their expansionism and their art. Rome's influence on democracy was directly borrowed from the Greeks in the sense that citizens voted. Rome's influence on government covers a wide range of issues. Most of what we consider personal rights were initiated by the Romans.
