Short, 5' would be tall. It has to do with a small piece of evolution, they were missing a lot of food nutrients. With more abundant food suppliers the generations keep getting bigger. But when the supply runs thin you know what happen to the dinosaurs.

We don't have any precise records of height for the people in general. However in the Roman army the ideal height for a soldier was 6 feet. Now this is six Roman feet which were less than our present measurement of six feet. It averages out to about 5 foot ten inches or thereabouts. The Germanic peoples and the Norse peoples and even the Gauls were much taller. There is mention of imperial bodyguards consisting of six foot tall Germans. Again, these measurements are in Roman feet and would be less than our measurements.
