Life would have been very difficult in the 13th century. During that time, poorer folks lived in straw huts. They would have worked from sun up to sun down, and would have struggled to get food and water for their families.

Life in England in the 1300s was not easy for most people. It was during 1348 that there was a major Plague outbreak, which killed off up to half of Europe's population at that time. Ironically, this did improve the living situation of the poor, who asked for higher wages since there was such a worker's shortage. Life in the 14th century was filled with war, collapsing institutions, disease, and natural disaster. Two of the most outstanding remembrances of the 14th century were the Bubonic Plague (or Black Death) and the Little Ice Age.
