This question is asking about a 1000 years of history so it is impossible to write all of that here. Here is a fast summary.

  • Early Middle Ages. 500 to 1000 AD. Vikings invade, there is constant war, pagan worshipping was common, monks in monasteries kept learning alive. Charlemagne conquered most of France.
  • High Middle Ages. 1000 to 1300 AD. Nobility and church grew stronger, feudal system became organized, William the Conqueror became King of England, the Magna Carta is signed by King John in 1215 limiting the king's power for the first time.
  • Late Middle Ages. 1300 to 1400. A 100 years war between England and France, the plague took many lives, church was fighting, new ideas grow, exploring starts.

The middle ages occured because a scientist found out how to create electricity so everyone thought it was time to start a new era

It seems to me that the key issue is why historians have bracketed this period together.

The division of European history into ancient, medieval and modern dates from the later 1500s and is based on the - surely biased - assumption that in Europe mankind almost went into hibernation between the collapse of the Western Empire and the start of the Renaissance. There is also an unspoken assumption that most of this period was marked by churchy backwardness and ignorance.

The usual explanation is that the Middle Ages started with the fall of the West Roman Empire in 476 AD, and lasted until the fall of Constantinople, which was the capital of the East Roman Empire, in 1453.

The events that caused the fall of the West Roman Empire were the migrations of Germanic tribes into the Roman Empire, where they settled and formed kingdoms. The kingdoms were nominal in the Roman Empire, with the exception of the Vandal Kingdom in North Africa and the various kingdoms in Britain, but the kings never gave much support to the empire, and so its power declined to nothing in the West.

The Middle Ages were not 'caused' by anything. It is just the name that is given by historians to the period between 500 and 1500 AD. You can only say that the start of the Middle Ages is connected to the fall of the western Roman Empire around the same time.

One of the most important causes of medieval wars was the question of succession, or who was the rightful king of a country. In these wars, people on different sides were partisans of pretenders to the throne. In other words, they were fighting over who got to be the king.

Many medieval wars were fought over religion. Really, however, these wars were not over religion, but other things related to religion. For example, the Muslims took over the Holy Land in the seventh century, but it took until the eleventh century for anyone to get upset enough to fight over it. The situation that immediately led up to the crusades was the fact that Seljuk Turks were threatening Constantinople, which could be viewed in religious terms.

A number of wars were fought over such things as the rights of barons versus the rights of kings. Or they were fought over the taxes and unfair tax burdens.

Wars were fought against pirates, and sometimes these were fought by armies and navies raised by merchant groups, such as the Hanseatic League.

It is said that one war was fought because a very young Prince John, later King John of England, yanked on the beard of an Irish Lord who had come to swear allegiance to him.even though some religions were stupid like Jews they still fought. some people fought over whos vagina was nicer.

One of the biggest causes of the Middle Ages that I can think of is also one of the biggest causes of the fall of the Roman Empire. The Middle Ages roughly began shortly after the fall of the Roman Empire, after all. As Rome was dying, it became surrounded by barbarian tribes such as Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Vandals, and numerous other Germanic and foreign peoples. Rome became overwhelmed as these groups attacked on all sides of the empire. One of the most significant of these groups were the Vikings, which terrorized Europe with their strength and swiftness in battle. The constant attacks prompted people to find ways to protect themselves, and eventually, European society entered an age where education dwindled and people sought others who could provide them with food and protection against violent groups in return for work, which became the norm during the Middle Ages.
