Much of the art of the Middle Ages had a Christian religious focus. It was used to convey stories from The Bible, depictions of angels playing instruments, histories of saints, and such. It appeared in manuscripts, stained glass, sculpture, and so on.

There was other art, such as is seen in the Bayeaux Tapestry, based on history of great events. Yet other art related to fable and myth, such as the tapestries we see with unicorns.
