Answerhe lives in and sleeps in the great hall AnswerMinstrels probably existed throughout the middle ages, though we do not have much record of the early ones. A very few were kept as musicians in the courts of important noblemen and kings. More often, however, they did not have fixed places to live. Some wandered from place to place, staying where they could, in inns, barns, hay mounds, or under bridges. Other minstrels performed in cities, and were essentially very like today's street musicians. They might have been homeless, or might have had very inexpensive lodgings.

There are various terms that were used for minstrels. They were also called jongleurs, troubadours, or minnesingers, depending on where they were.

There is a link below to an article on minstrels, though it has nothing to say about their homes.

Unlike minstrels, jesters did not tend to travel much, as they usually worked for a single lord or king. They lived near or at the home of the lord or king, which was usually a fine residence, sometimes a castle.
