How did the renaissance emerge?

The Renaissance emerged when the Middle Ages came to a close in Italy. There were many new kinds of art, music, and literature that came out during the period.

What is the name of the era after the Middle Ages?

The next age after the Middle Ages was the Renaissance or Early Modern Age. There is a bit of overlap between the two, as the Renaissance is taken as beginning about 1350 and the Middle Ages ending about 1450 or so.

What happened before the middle ages?

From a historical standpoint it is commonly referred to as "ancient history" and lasted (roughly) from 3500 BC to 900 AD. To give a name besides "ancient history" to time before the Middle ages you would need to express it in geological Prehistoric periods, in which case you could say the "iron age" which lasted roughly from the 1300 BC to 1000 AD (you'll notice the dates are measured differently). The "iron age" was preceded by the "bronze age" and before that the "copper age".

What was the era before the dark ages?

The Renaissance time period came after the Dark Ages. ----- It seems most people who use the term Dark Ages are talking about the Early Middle Ages, which is a period from about 450 AD to 1000 AD. They call the following period the Middle Ages. Some people would have the Dark Ages coincide with the Age of Migration, from about 300 to 700, and this would mean it was followed by the second half of the Early Middle Ages, which began with a time called the Carolingian Renaissance. Other people would have the Dark Ages be equal to the entire Middle Ages, so it would be followed by the European Renaissance. I think most historians do not use the term Dark Ages.
